Depends on the context, but if you can replace it with a pronoun and still have the sentence sound correct then probably

A noun phrase is *kind* of clause. Not all clauses are noun phrases. An idiom is a kind of expression with a colloquial, non-literal meaning. The whole of an idiom may be a noun phrase, or it may be a sentence or other kind of clause—it could be any kind of clause or collection of clauses. In bold are some noun phrases; notice that a sentence may contain more than one noun phrase: > **The men** are laughing. > **A big dog** ran to **the store**. > **The boy** wanted **me to smile**. > **Sam** saw **[that] I was here**.
