Is "own" classifying as a determiner or an adjective?

uremaincharofurlife
According to Cambridge Dictionary this meaning of own: "belonging to or done by a particular person or thing" can be "determiner / pronoun" but American Dictionary only "adjective" so why? Also I know that "own" isn't a determiner.

Its behavior is unique, and people can’t agree how to classify it. It is often seen as an adjective, but it doesn’t modify the noun and often refers back to the subject of the sentence to describe the possessor. It’s best seen as a grammatical function word.

Idk what "American dictionary" you're using, but it's wrong. Own is not only an adjective, it can also be a verb, "I own this house" and a pronoun, "I am on my own."

Just as a quick note since the question was answered, it should be worded as “Is ‘own’ **classified** as a determiner or an adjective?”
